About Us

The Glen Echo Heights Citizens' Association (GEHCA) is a neighborhood association made up of Glen Echo Heights residents who are interested in staying involved in our vibrant community.

More than 350 years ago, the wooded area we now call Glen Echo Heights was home to the Algonquian Indian Tribe. Today, our hills and glens are home to approximately 480 families, who continue to enjoy the beauty of the Potomac Palisade, the shade of towering sycamore, oak and tulip poplar trees, and an abundance of small animals including red headed woodpeckers, owls, and even the occasional fox, coyote or deer. With easy access to the C&O Canal and the Potomac River, this sought after community is just minutes from downtown, DC.

GEHCA serves as an advocate for its residents, committed to building a sense of community among neighbors. With a focus on zoning, traffic, safety, preservation and maintenance of its unique ambiance, GEHCA monitors countywide developments and works to safeguard and enhance the residential quality of life in Glen Echo Heights.

The Association is governed by five board members, elected each year at the Association’s General Membership May meeting. To facilitate activities and advocacy, the Board relies on the work of several committees to address specific issues and activities. Meetings are held throughout the year, and newsletters and announcements are distributed to the community regularly.

Annual dues are $40 per household and support a variety of activities such as the printing of the Glen Echo Heights Directory and Newsletters, and holding annual parties, including the Halloween Party. All households in Glen Echo Heights will receive a copy of the directory. If you’re not already a member, we hope you will take the time to join.

Also, as all of our activities depend on the goodwill of volunteers, if you can help out on an occasional basis, do let us know! We’d love to hear from you.
